Walking Tours
The tour starts at Battery Park where we will talk about the City’s role in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. This tour also includes the history of Indigenous people in the area, Burlington’s Waterfront, the downtown commercial history and a visit to where the village of Burlington Started in the late 1700’s. The tour will pass historic homes, and the people who had significant roles in the development of the city. Tour is 1hour and 45 minutes. Distance 1 mile. $40 per person. Minimum of 2 people. Restrooms available.
Neighborhood Tours
By request, the tour guide will put together a historic tour of your neighborhood. Tours will cover the historic homes and the people who lived in the area. Distance and time will vary according to the neighborhood. $20 per person minimum of 5 people.
Step-on Tours
Burlington History Tours is available to provide history guided tours for visitors who arrive by bus. The guide will work with touring agencies to step on buses and guide the bus driver through the city while proving attendee’s history facts and information about Burlington, VT. Times will vary according to the tour agency’s agenda. Cost is negotiable.
Virtual Tours
For those that do not want to venture out for a physical tour of one sort or another virtual tours via Zoom can be arranged. The tour covers most of what is in the above tours and takes approximately 2 hours. Cost: $20 per person, minimum of 2 people.
Private Tours
We can customize a Burlington History Tour for you and your family and friends. For example, a family wanted to give their dad, who was getting up in age, a tour of the University of Vermont where he attended decades ago. We also visited some of his favorite restaurants and his fraternity house! Another private tour was to the home this medical doctor from Romania lived in when he went to medical school at the University of Vermont years ago. If you have special places you want to see and hear about their history, call Gary and see what can be put together. Anything is possible. Cost negotiable.
